WEEK 15 NFL PICKS: Matt's Week 15 Picks
by: Betus.com
At 3-1 last week, I am finally
getting my record headed in a positive direction,
after four weeks of idling along in neutral. The
game I messed up was the Giants at the Panthers.
The Giants are a team that I simply can’t
get a grasp of this year; like Bush with his foreign
policy. Up, down, up, down…something that
is fun in bed, but not from a football team, someone
said recently. Watch TV. Ah well, the corporate-sponsored,
pseudo-religious holiday season is upon us and
we are all supposed to be good sheep this month
and spend more money than we have on things no
one needs for people who don’t need them
for a reason no one remembers anymore. Buy now.
To help you continue to feed this artificially-inflated
economy that keeps us in line, I have four picks
this week that will help your bankroll grow ever
larger. Best of luck to all watching and playing
the games this week and to Mr. Reichertz and Mr.
Oxley as we head back to the huddle. Don’t
ask questions.
JACKSONVILLE
JAGUARS -3.5 AT TENNESSEE TITANS +3.5
Last week I said the Jags
would hand the Colts the start of a losing streak.
Some people wrote in saying that the Colts had
lost the previous game, so how could this one
be the start of a streak? Would it not have started
the week before? No, is the answer, not Allen
Iverson. A streak starts with a second loss. That
is why I will not be calling this game the start
of a losing streak for the Jaguars. No, that is
not why at all. I’m a liar. You’d
vote for me, right? I see a close, low-scoring
affair.
PREDICTION: Titans to
cover
PHILADELPHIA
EAGLES +6 AT NEW YORK GIANTS -6
Ack! The Giants again! Have
I gotten one of their games right in a pick all
year? I don’t know if I have. Hmmm, time
to change course. After meeting with my trusted
advisors and discussing all possibilities, I have
figured out that I am going about picking on this
team all wrong. I know. I know. I said I’d
never change the way I do things, but I am utterly
convinced of my previous stupidity. What I used
to do is say the Giants can’t be this bad
and that Garcia, in Philly, can’t continue
to pick other teams apart without getting picked
off. Well, the Giants have been that bad and Garcia
has been that good. I see no reason for either
to stop. That’s right, folks. This week,
I learned about a thing called ‘reason’.
It is pretty cool. Try it when you make important
decisions that affect the rest of the world from
now on, please.
PREDICTION: Eagles to
cover
KANSAS
CITY CHIEFS +9.5 AT SAN DIEGO CHARGERS -9.5
The Chiefs, who lost at
home last week by ten points, are being asked
to step into San Diego’s crib and knock
off the trendy,- and likely correct were it not
for their coach, Schottenheimer, who will, I guarantee
it, find a way to lose in the playoffs - pick
to win this year’s Super Bowl. No easy task,
that. Especially since the Chargers have the extra
motivation that comes with playing the last team
to beat them before they ripped off a seven-game
winning streak that has yet to come to an end.
The Chiefs will have added
motivation in this game (as if losing the past
two seemingly winnable games were not enough)
as they will be playing hard for the memory of
their owner, and one of the founding fathers of
football as we know it today, Lamar Hunt, who
died December 13. If the Chiefs can win two of
their last three games, they could slip into the
playoffs on the strength of their divisional record.
PREDICTION: Chiefs to
cover
CINCINNATI BENGALS +3 AT INDIANAPOLIS
COLTS -3
If the Bengals can make
it to the playoffs and still have enough starters
not in jail to field a team, they are going to
scare some teams. If they don’t, they are
going to scare some jailhouse wardens. The jury
is out. Indianapolis, amazingly, is still not
guaranteed to make the playoffs, and this Monday
Night game is not going to strengthen their chances.
Back any big cat into a corner and they’ll
tear the head off a hobbled small horse with a
blue tattoo. Add in a runner named Rudy and a
run defense that, well, is, for the most part,
simply a mirage, and you have all the makings
of an extension to the losing streak the Colts
have embarked upon.
PREDICTION: Bengals
to cover
