WPT
Poker Tournaments
Until last week Mike
Simon’s biggest win in poker a tournament
was $639. After beating 592 players at the
Reno Hilton World Poker Tour (WPT) World Poker
Challenge Championship event he is now a poker
millionaire. The victory in the $5,000 No-Limit
Hold'em Championship gave Simon $1,052,890
in prize money and a seat at the WPT World
Championship. Among his opponents at the final
table was one of the best poker players in
the world, Barry “The Robin Hood of
Poker” Greenstein, who finished in 6th
place.
The final table action
was very tough and Mike Simon, an avid rakeback
player, had to fend off several experienced
poker professionals to clinch the title. 2nd
place finisher is an accomplished tournament
player who has reached the money in a great
number of poker events. Tom Schneider, who
finished 3rd, has three in the money finishes
in WSOP events. However, the most well know
player at the final table was Barry Greenstein.
“The Robin Hood of Poker” has
won over $4 million in major poker tournaments,
but had to settle for 6th place and $85,370
this time.
Greenstein was not the
only top name in this high profile WPT event.
Lots of well known and popular poker profiles
were among the 593 who paid the $5,000 entry
fee. Besides Greenstein, several other world
class players finished in the money in the
Reno Hilton WPT World Poker Challenge: Liz
Lieu, Carlos Mortensen, Chau Giang, Gavin
Smith, and David Plastik.
In addition to the prize
money, the winner Mike Simon gets a $25,000
seat to the WPT World Championship at the
Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas this
month. Before the event, Simon’s greatest
achievement in a poker tournament was a 22nd
place in the 2003 New England Poker Classic,
which gave him $639.
Final table results from
the Reno Hilton WPT World Poker Challenge:
1st Mike Simon $1,052,890
2nd Jason Stern $529,300
3rd Tom Schneider $256,115
4th Greg Mueller $142,285
5th Jonas Norman $113,830
6th Barry Greenstein $85,370
A great first step
towards becoming a winning poker player like
Mike Simon is to become a rakeback player.
Why not try Bodog
rakeback.
