Night Football - Monday, November 27th
by: VIP.com
The
Green Bay Packers might be two games below the
.500 mark and a longshot to make the playoffs
this season, but at least they'll have Brett Favre
back on the field on Monday night when they take
on the Seattle Seahawks. Despite being listed
as QUESTIONABLE with a sore elbow on this week's
injury report Favre fully practiced on Friday
and (barring a setback) he will lead his team
onto Qwest Field on Monday night.
Favre left last weekend's
game against the New England Patriots in the first
half with an injured nerve in his elbow, and didn't
return in the 35-0 blowout loss. Before departing
the veteran QB had gone just 5-of-15 for 73 yards.
Backup Aaron Rodgers completed the game, but broke
his foot and will miss the rest of the season.
The Packers signed Todd Bouman to be their second-string
quarterback, with Ingle Martin the third-stringer.
But the Seahawks will also
have their starting quarterback back on the field
on Monday night. Matt Hasselbeck is listed as
PROBABLE on the injury report this week, and his
sprained knee has now healed enough that the team
will give him the start against the Packers. Seneca
Wallace returns to backup duty. Hasselbeck hasn't
played since Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings,
when he went 7-of-17 for 127 yards before the
injury.
And Seattle could have used
Hasselbeck's arm last weekend against the San
Francisco 49ers. Wallace went 19-of-31 for 252
yards and two touchdowns in that contest, but
he was also picked off three times in the 20-14
road loss. The 49ers led that game 20-0 at halftime,
and held on for the victory. Shaun Alexander was
a non-factor for Seattle in the defeat, rushing
for just 37 yards on 17 attempts as his team fell
to 6-4 on the year.
However, that 6-4 mark is
still good for top spot in the NFC West, with
the 49ers one game back at 5-5, and the Rams two
games back at 4-6. Seattle, though, hasn't been
a good option for bettors this season, as they're
just 3-7 against-the-spread through 10 games.
The Seahawks are also 3-2 ATS as the home team,
and 3-5 ATS as the favored team. On the totals
side, Seattle has put up six OVER plays so far
this season.
The Packers are tied with
the Minnesota Vikings for second place in the
NFC North at 4-6, but both teams are five games
behind the division-leading Chicago Bears. Green
Bay is also 4-6 against-the-spread this season,
while they're 3-2 ATS on the road, and 3-6 ATS
as the underdog. The Packers have gone 3-6-1 OVER/UNDER
in 10 contests.
Oddsmakers opened the Seahawks
as 9.5-point home favorites in this contest, but
that spread has shrunk to either 9 or 8.5 points
at most books. The total for the game is 45.
Green Bay and Seattle met
once last season, with the Packers coming away
with a 23-17 home victory. Green Bay had been
favored by 6 points in that January game, and
they pushed the posted spread. The combined score
fell UNDER the day's total of 41 points. The last
time the Seahawks beat the Packers was in November
1999, when they rolled to a 27-7 road win as 5-point
underdogs. That game was also an UNDER result.

at Invesco Field against the Broncos.
