Jamal Lewis carried
the ball 24 times for 72 yards and a touchdown,
while Steve McNair continued to look comfortable
in head coach Brian Billick's offense with 245
yards passing. More importantly, Baltimore (6-2)
moved two games in front of reeling Cincinnati
(4-4) in the AFC North race. Carson Palmer had
a case of the 'highs' early, with every throw
sailing amidst constant pressure. The signal-caller
was 12-of-26 for 195 yards with one touchdown
and two interceptions. The Bengals did get Rudi
Johnson involved one week after the running back
questioned his role in the offense. Johnson had
77 yards rushing and a touchdown, but couldn't
break one for a big play.
Final Score: Buffalo
24, Green Bay 10
Orchard Park, NY - London
Fletcher-Baker made 11 tackles, intercepted a
pass and ran it back for a touchdown as the Buffalo
Bills defeated the Green Bay Packers, 24-10, at
Ralph Wilson Stadium. The Packers dominated the
game statistically but the Bills held on for the
win. Anthony Thomas took over for Willis McGahee,
who left early in the game with a rib injury,
and had 95 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown.
J.P. Losman completed 8-of-15 passes for 102 yards
and a touchdown for the Bills (3-5), who forced
four turnovers, including two in the red zone.
Lee Evans hauled in two catches for 58 yards and
a TD. Ahman Green ran the ball 23 times for 122
yards and Brett Favre went 28-for-47 for 287 yards

a score.
Final Score: Miami 31,
Chicago 13
Chicago, IL - Jason Taylor
had one sack, forced a fumble, intercepted a pass
and scored a touchdown as Miami capitalized on
six Chicago turnovers to best the Bears, 31-13,
at Soldier Field. Chicago lost its chance for
NFL immortality as it will not go into the record
books with an undefeated season. The game had
strong similarities to December 2, 1985, when
the Bears were 12-0 before losing 38-24 to the
Dolphins. That was the only game they lost that
season before winning Super Bowl XX against New
England. Ronnie Brown had an outstanding day on
the ground, running for a career-high 157 yards
on 29 carries and Joey Harrington completed 16-of-32
passes for 137 yards with three touchdowns and
a pair of interceptions for the Dolphins (2-6),
who scored 21 points off turnovers. Rex Grossman
had an abysmal day, throwing three interceptions
and fumbling once, while going 18-of-42 for 210
yards and a touchdown for the Bears (7-1), who
have turned the ball over 13 times in their last
three games.
Final Score: Detroit
30, Atlanta 14
Detroit, MI - Kevin Jones
rushed for 110 yards on 26 carries with two touchdowns
as the Detroit Lions took advantage of three Michael
Vick turnovers to upset the Atlanta Falcons, 30-14.
Roy Williams caught six passes for 138 yards and
a touchdown for the Lions (2-6), who picked up
just their second win of the season and first
against an NFC opponent. John Kitna completed
20-of-32 passes for 321 yards with a touchdown
and an interception for Detroit, while Jason Hanson
converted on all three of his field goal attempts.
Vick threw for 163 yards with a touchdown and
two picks, while also coughing the ball up for
the Falcons (5-3), who had won two in a row coming
into the contest. Vick added 80 yards on the ground
and Alge Crumpler had four catches for 47 yards
and a touchdown.
Final Score: Jacksonville
37, Tennessee 7
Jacksonville, FL - David
Garrard completed 12-of-22 passes for 177 yards
and three touchdowns, leading the Jacksonville
Jaguars to a 37-7 blowout win over the Tennessee
Titans at Alltel Stadium. Wide receiver Ernest
Wilford caught just three balls for 44 yards but
two were for touchdowns, and Rashean Mathis recorded
two interceptions, while Scott Starks returned
a pick 55 yards for a score. Running backs Fred
Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew combined for 135
rushing yards on 21 carries, and Matt Jones had
three catches for 66 yards for Jacksonville (5-3),
winners in three of their last four games. Travis
Henry gained 67 yards on 19 carries and Bo Scaife
caught five balls for 70 yards. Vince Young had
a terrible day, completing just 15- of-36 passes
for 163 yards, one touchdown, three interceptions
and one fumble. Drew Bennett had three catches
for 51 yards and the only score of the day for
Tennessee (2-6), which had a two-game win streak
stopped.
Final Score: NY Giants
14, Houston 10
East Rutherford, NJ - Jeremy
Shockey's touchdown reception with 7:49 left gave
the Giants the lead and New York held on to defeat
the Houston Texans, 14-10, at Giants Stadium.
Shockey finished with eight catches for 66 yards
and Tiki Barber ran for 115 yards and his first
touchdown of the season for the Giants (6-2),
who have won five straight for the first time
since 2000. Eli Manning ended 17-of-28 for 179
yards with a touchdown and an interception as
New York avoided the classic trap game. The Giants
welcome the NFC leading Chicago Bears next Sunday
to the Meadowlands in a game that could determine
the best team in the conference. David Carr went
21-of-30 for 176 yards and ran for a score for
the Texans (2-6), who have lost two straight and
three of four.
Final Score: Kansas City
31, St. Louis 17
St. Louis, MO - Larry Johnson
rushed for 172 yards on 27 carries with a touchdown
and Damon Huard threw for three scores as the
Kansas City Chiefs defeated the St. Louis Rams,
31-17, at the Edward Jones Dome. Tony Gonzalez

for the Chiefs (5-3),who will travel to Miami
to play the Dolphins next Sunday. Huard was 10-of-15
passing for 148 yards. Chiefs defensive end Jared
Allen recorded two sacks, forced a pair of fumbles
and had a fumble recovery in the win. The Rams
were led by Marc Bulger, who was 31-of-42 passing
for 354 yards and one touchdown in the loss. Steven
Jackson rushed for 86 yards on 19 carries and
caught 13 passes for 133 yards in the loss. Kevin
Curtis had seven catches for 59 yards and a score.
Final Score: New Orleans
31, Tampa Bay 14
Tampa, FL - Drew Brees threw
for 314 yards and three touchdowns to lead the
New Orleans Saints to a 31-14 beating of the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium. Brees
completed 24 of his 32 passes without throwing
an interception for the Saints (6-2), who rebounded
from last week's 13-point loss to Baltimore. Brees
has won three straight over Tampa Bay. Standout
wide receiver Joe Horn missed the game with a
groin injury, but rookie Marques Colston and Devery
Henderson stepped in nicely in his absence, each
posting 100-yard games. Colston finished with
123 yards on 11 catches and a score while Henderson
caught three for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
Bruce Gradkowski went 18-of-31 passing for 185
yards and two touchdowns for the Buccaneers (2-6),
who have dropped two straight since stunning Philadelphia
on Matt Bryant's game-winning 62-yard field goal.
Joey Galloway hauled in four passes for 97 yards
and two scores while Cadillac Williams rushed
for 39 yards on 12 touches in defeat.
Final Score: Washington
22, Dallas 19
Landover, MD - Mike Vanderjagt
lined up for the game-winning field goal try with
six seconds left, and when the dust settled, a
kick did sail through the uprights as time expired.
Only it wasn't his. Troy Vincent blocked Vanderjagt's
35-yard field goal try, Sean Taylor returned it
to the 31 following a face mask penalty that extended
the game, and Nick Novak hooked in a 47-yard field
goal with no time on the clock to give Washington
a scintillating 22-19 win over Dallas at FedEx
Field. Vincent, who was just signed on Monday,
leapt into the air and got a hand on the ball
before Taylor picked it up and rumbled 30 yards
to the Dallas 44 with no time on the clock. A
15-yard face mask was called on the play and,
by rule, a game cannot end on a defensive penalty.
As a result, Novak got a chance at it and barely
edged his attempt inside the right post. Mark
Brunell ended 14-of-23 for 192 yards while Chris
Cooley had three catches for 66 yards and a score
for Washington (3-5), which had dropped three
in a row before its bye. Tony Romo went 24-of-36
for 284 yards with a pair of touchdown tosses
in his second career start for the Cowboys (4-4),
who were coming off a 35-14 win over Carolina.
Final Score: San Francisco
9, Minnesota 3
San Francisco, CA - Joe Nedney
kicked three field goals as the San Francisco
49ers defeated the Minnesota Vikings, 9-3, in
a defensive battle at Monster Park. Alex Smith
was 13-of-21 passing for 105 yards and an interception
and Frank Gore rushed for 41 yards on 19 carries
for the 49ers (3-5). Brandon Moore led the Niners'
defense with 14 total tackles and a sack. San
Francisco, which snapped a two-game losing streak,
will travel to Detroit to play the Lions next
Sunday. The Vikings were led by quarterback Brad
Johnson, who was 21-of-31 passing for 136 yards
with an interception. Chester Taylor had 96 yards
rushing on 26 carries and caught eight passes
for 45 yards in the loss. Minnesota (4-4) has
lost two straight games and will host the Green
Bay Packers next Sunday.
Final Score: Denver 31,
Pittsburgh 20
Pittsburgh, PA - Javon Walker's
arrival -- six catches for 134 yards with two
touchdowns and a 72-yard rushing score -- signaled
Pittsburgh's season departure just 10 months after
winning the Super Bowl, as Denver capitalized
on constant Steelers mistakes in a 31-20 victory
at Heinz Field. The Steelers (2-6) have lost five
of six since a season-opening victory over the
Miami Dolphins. Mike Bell only had 28 yards rushing
for Denver (6-2), which bounced back from a loss
last Sunday in Indianapolis.
Final Score: San Diego
32, Cleveland 25
San Diego, CA - LaDainian
Tomlinson rushed for 172 yards with three second-half
touchdowns to guide the San Diego Chargers past
the Cleveland Browns, 32-25, at Qualcomm Stadium.
Tomlinson also caught three passes for 20 yards
while Philip Rivers ended 19- of-28 for 211 yards
without a touchdown or an interception for the
Chargers (6-2), who have won four of their last
five. Eric Parker finished with five catches for
65 yards, and Keenan McCardell added five catches
for 64 yards. The battle of two top-flight tight
ends, meanwhile, was rather one-sided. San Diego's
Antonio Gates had just two grabs for 22 yards
while Kellen Winslow Jr. hauled in 11 balls for
78 yards for Cleveland (2-6), which has dropped
three of four.
Final Score: Indianapolis
27, New England 20
Foxboro, MA - Peyton Manning
threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns as the
Indianapolis Colts are now the sole unbeaten team
in the league with a 27-20 victory over the New
England Patriots at Gillette Stadium. Manning
went 20-of-36 passing with an interception and
Marvin Harrison had eight catches for 145 yards
and two touchdowns for the Colts (8-0), who became
the first team since the 1929-31 Packers to go
8-0 in consecutive seasons. Reggie Wayne had six
catches for 90 yards and Joseph Addai carried
the ball 18 times for 43 yards and a touchdown
for Indianapolis, which has back-to-back wins
against New England for the first time since 1995
when the teams were in the AFC East. Tom Brady
was intercepted four times and finished 20-of-35
passing with 201 yards while Corey Dillon carried
the ball 13 times for 48 yards with two touchdowns
for the Patriots (6-2), who had won six of their
last seven games coming into the contest.
Final Score: Seattle
16, Oakland 0
Seattle, WA (Sports Network)
- The Seattle defense held Oakland to only 185
total yards of offense, sacked quarterback Andrew
Walter nine times and the Seahawks shut out Oakland
16-0 at a wet Qwest Field. Defensive tackle Craig
Terrill, who entered the game with just two sacks
in 25 career games, had a career-high three sacks
and fellow defensive linemen Rocky Bernard and
Grant Wistrom each recorded two sacks of Walter,
who was pressured and knocked around all night.
The Seahawks held Oakland to only 64 yards rushing,
recording its first shutout since a December 5,
2005 42-0 win at Philadelphia. Seneca Wallace
ended 18-of-30 for 176 yards with a touchdown
under center for Seattle, which didn't have a
stellar offensive output either. Maurice Morris,
most likely starting for the final time in place
of injured starter Shaun Alexander, ended with
a career-high 138 yards rushing for the Seahawks,
who halted a two-game slide and won for only the
second time in five outings. Walter completed
16-of-35 passes for 166 yards for Oakland, which
had a two-game win streak halted and was shut
out for the second time this season. LaMont Jordan
had 63 yards rushing and Randy Moss recorded 76
yards on six catches for Oakland, which next hosts
one of the league's best defensive teams in Denver
next Sunday. Oakland scored just three points
earlier this season against the Broncos in a 10-point
loss. In a game that lacked the knock-out punch,
the best shot of the game will probably result
in a suspension. With 1:51 left Oakland defensive
end Tyler Brayton got into a scuffle with Seattle
tight end Jerramy Stevens and kneed him in the
groin. The action resulted in the ejection of
Brayton.
