(Sunday, December 17th)
Final Score: Baltimore
27, Cleveland 17
Baltimore, MD (MySportsbook.com)
- Kyle Boller replaced an injured Steve McNair
and completed 13-of-21 passes for 238 yards and
two touchdowns, as the Baltimore Ravens downed
the Cleveland Browns 27-17 at M&T Bank Stadium.
Jamal Lewis rushed 22 times for 109 yards and
a touchdown, while Demetrius Williams caught two
balls for 100 yards and another score, and Todd
Heap had five receptions for 58 yards for the
Ravens (11-3), winners in two straight and seven
of eight. The victory gives Baltimore a postseason
berth for the fourth time since arriving in the
Charm City in 1996, and moves them a step closer
to clinching the AFC North division title. Derek
Anderson completed 23- of-32 passes for 223 yards,
two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Browns
(4-10), losers of two straight and four of five,
as well as all six games within the AFC North
this season.
Final Score: Buffalo
21, Miami 0
Orchard Park, NY (MySportsbook.com) - J.P. Losman completed 13-of-19 passes
for 200 yards and three touchdowns, as the Buffalo
Bills blanked the Miami Dolphins, 21-0, in an
AFC East battle at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Lee Evans,
Robert Royal and Josh Reed all caught touchdown
passes for the Bills (7-7), who have won two straight
and five of their last seven games. Willis McGahee
rushed 28 times for 79 yards in the victory. He
also left the game in the first quarter with a
neck injury but returned to action early in the
second after sitting out a few offensive plays.
Joey Harrington struggled, completing just 5-of-17
passes for 20 yards and was intercepted twice
for the Dolphins, who were coming off an impressive
21-0 victory over the New England Patriots. Cleo
Lemon replaced Harrington in the fourth quarter
and went 9-of-16 for 98 yards. Sammy Morris started
in place of the injured Ronnie Brown, who missed
his third straight game as he recovers from a
broken hand, and ran for 71 yards. Wes Welker
was Miami's leading receiver with four catches
for 56 yards. The Dolphins (6-8) have lost two
of their last three games and were eliminated
from postseason contention.
Final Score: Pittsburgh
37, Carolina 3
Charlotte, NC (MySportsbook.com)
- Willie Parker rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown
as the Pittsburgh Steelers kept their slim playoff
hopes alive with a 37-3 throttling of the Carolina
Panthers at America Stadium. Ben Roethlisberger
threw for 140 yards and a touchdown, while also
running for a score for the Steelers (7-7), who
have won five of their last six contests. Chris
Weinke completed 11-of-18 passes for 170 yards
and an interception for the slumping Panthers
(6-8), who have dropped four in a row. Weinke
has now lost 17 straight games as a starter.
Final Score: Chicago
34, Tampa Bay 31 (OT)
Chicago, IL (MySportsbook.com)
- Robbie Gould connected on a 25-yard field goal
with 3:37 remaining in overtime, and the Chicago
Bears cut short a stunning rally by the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers, hanging on for a 34-31 victory
at Soldier Field. With the win, the Bears clinch
homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. The
Bucs (3-11) forced the sudden-death session after
signal-caller Tim Rattay orchestrated an improbable
comeback, turning a 24-3 deficit in the third
quarter into a 31-31 tie at the end of regulation.
Rattay took over for the struggling Bruce Gradkowski
late in the first half and completed 20-of-35
passes for 268 yards, three touchdowns and one
interception. Desmond Clarke had seven catches
for 125 yards and two touchdowns for Chicago,
which has won three in a row and five of six.
Thomas Jones carried 17 times for 68 yards and
also had one score. Joey Galloway led the Bucs'
receiving corps with three catches for 107 yards
and one touchdown. Tampa Bay has lost four in
a row and seven of eight.
Final Score: Green Bay
17, Detroit 9
Green Bay, WI (MySportsbook.com)
- Vernand Morency rushed for 54 yards and two
scores as the Green Bay Packers held on to defeat
the Detroit Lions 17-9 at Lambeau Field. Ahman
Green ran for 79 yards on 22 carries and Brett
Favre was 20-of-37 passing for 174 yards and three
interceptions as Green Bay (6-8) won for only
the second time in their last five games. Jason
Hanson kicked three field goals for the Lions
only points. Jon Kitna was 16-of-26 passing for
135 yards and two interceptions as Detroit (2-12)
has lost six straight games.
Final Score: NY Jets
26, Minnesota 13
Minneapolis, MN (MySportsbook.com)
- Chad Pennington rebounded after a brutal loss
last week to Buffalo by completing 29-of-39 passes
for 339 yards with a touchdown and an interception,
as the New York Jets bested the Minnesota Vikings,
26-13, at the Metrodome. Laveranues Coles tied
a career-high with 12 receptions, gaining 144
yards, with a TD while Cedric Houston had 21 carries
for 53 yards and a score for the Jets (8-6), who
have won five straight meetings. Mike Nugent booted
four field goals for New York, which won its third
straight road game for the first time since a
five-game streak to begin the 2001 season. Brad
Johnson was 10-for-17 for 96 yards with a touchdown
before being replaced in the fourth quarter by
Tarvaris Jackson, who went 14-of-23 for 177 yards
with a TD and an interception for the Vikings
(6-8), who have lost two of their last three games.
Final Score: New England
40, Houston 7,
Foxborough, MA (MySportsbook.com)
- Kevin Faulk scored a pair of touchdowns and
New England scored 16 points off four David Carr
interceptions, as the Patriots crushed the Houston
Texans, 40-7, at Gillette Stadium. Tom Brady completed
16-of-23 passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns
while Corey Dillon gained 61 yards on 20 carries
for the Patriots (10-4), who have won four of
their last five games. Stephen Gostkowski booted
four field goals and Asante Samuel picked off
his eighth pass of the season for New England,
which will have to wait to clinch the division
since the New York Jets defeated Minnesota 26-13.
Carr was truly abysmal, going 16-of-28 for 127
yards and no touchdowns and Ron Dayne ran the
ball 18 times for 94 yards and a TD for the Texans
(4-10), who have lost two in a row and four of
their last five games.
Final Score: Washington
16, New Orleans 10
New Orleans, LA (MySportsbook.com)
- Jason Campbell threw for 204 yards and a touchdown
as the Washington Redskins held on to upset the
playoff-bound New Orleans Saints, 16-10. Despite
the loss, New Orleans clinched the NFC South with
Atlanta's loss on Saturday and Carolina's loss
to Pittsburgh on Sunday. However, the setback
did allow Chicago to clinch home-field advantage
throughout the NFC playoffs. Campbell completed
13-of-28 passes without an interception, while
Ladell Betts rushed 22 times for 119 yards for
the Redskins (5-9), who rebounded from a tough
home loss to Philadelphia last week. Drew Brees
was 21-of-38 for 207 yards with an interception
and no touchdowns for the Saints (9-5), who suffered
a let-down from last Sunday night's huge primetime
victory over Dallas. Deuce McAllister ran for
48 yards and the only touchdown for New Orleans.
Final Score: Tennessee
24, Jacksonville 17
Nashville, TN (MySportsbook.com)
- Cortland Finnegan returned a fumble 92 yards
for the go-ahead score as the Tennessee Titans
defense returned three turnovers for scores to
down the AFC South-rival Jacksonville Jaguars,
24-17, at LP Field. Tennessee rookie quarterback
Vince Young continued his quest for NFL Rookie
of the Year honors by completing 8-of-15 passes
for 85 yards for the Titans (7-7), who have won
five straight games to keep their slim playoff
hopes alive. Pacman Jones returned an interception
83 yards for a score and Chris Hope returned one
61 yards for a touchdown. Reynaldo Hill also notched
an interception in the final minute to seal the
win for Tennessee, which was outgained 396-98.
David Garrard completed 22-of-37 passes for 233
yards with a touchdown and the three costly interceptions
for the Jaguars (8-6), who had a modest two-game
winning streak snapped. Maurice Jones-Drew rushed
for 98 yards on 25 carries with a score, and Reggie
Williams had four receptions for 88 yards. Since
Jacksonville lost, Indianapolis clinched the AFC
South title.
Final Score: Denver 37,
Arizona 20
Glendale, AZ (MySportsbook.com)
- Jay Cutler's 261 yards and two touchdowns on
21-of-31 passing led the Denver Broncos to a 37-20
win over the Arizona Cardinals at University of
Phoenix Stadium. It was Cutler's first-ever win
in his third start. Mike Bell rushed for 61 yards
and two scores on 16 carries, Javon Walker caught
five balls for 84 yards and one touchdown, and
Rod Smith had four catches for 40 yards and one
TD catch for the Broncos (8-6), who snapped a
four-game slide, and are still alive in the quest
for a playoff spot. Matt Leinart completed 20-of-35
passes for no touchdowns and two picks for the
Cardinals (4-10), whose two-game winning streak
ended.
Final Score: Philadelphia
36, NY Giants 22
East Rutherford, NJ (MySportsbook.com) - Jeff Garcia threw a go-ahead touchdown
pass with under three minutes left in the fourth
to Reggie Brown, and the Philadelphia defense
came up with a big turnover on the next drive
to seal a 36-22 victory over the New York Giants.
The win puts the Eagles in the driver seat in
the NFC wild card race. At 8-6, the Eagles lead
the race over about six teams for a postseason
birth. Philadelphia, which has won three straight,
next travels to Dallas to complete a three-game
NFC East road trip on Christmas Day against the
9-5 Cowboys. A win in Dallas and over Atlanta
in the season finale would give the Eagles the
division title. The Giants, meanwhile, fell to
7-7. Once atop the NFC East, New York has lost
five of its last six and is tied with the 7-7
Falcons for the second wild card spot. Four other
teams in the NFC are 6-8.
Final Score: St. Louis
20, Oakland 0
Oakland, CA (MySportsbook.com)
- Steven Jackson rushed for 127 yards and two
touchdowns as the St. Louis Rams handled the Oakland
Raiders, 20-0, at McAfee Coliseum. Jackson carried
the ball 31 times and Marc Bulger managed the
game well, throwing for 137 yards on 11-of-22
passing, as St. Louis (6-8) snapped a two-game
losing streak. Torry Holt caught four passes for
59 yards and Isaac Bruce grabbed three balls for
58 yards in the win for the Rams. Andrew Walter
was 14-of-20 passing for 131 yards with two interceptions
before being replaced by Aaron Brooks, who was
11-of-19 for 98 yards and an interception.
Final Score: San Diego
20, Kansas City 9
San Diego, CA (MySportsbook.com)
- LaDainian Tomlinson ran for 199 yards and two
touchdowns to lead the San Diego Chargers over
the Kansas City Chiefs, 20-9, at Qualcomm Stadium.
One week after setting the single-season touchdown
record, Tomlinson became the NFL's single-season
scoring leader, ending the game with 186 points.
He surpassed the previous mark of 176 set by Paul
Hornung in the 1960. He also recorded at least
two touchdowns in eight straight games, which
is also a new NFL record. John Riggins held the
old mark of seven straight contests set in 1983.
Philip Rivers finished just 8-of-23 passing for
97 yards with two interceptions for AFC West champion
San Diego (12-2), which can clinch a first-round
bye in the upcoming playoffs with a loss by Indianapolis
on Monday against Cincinnati. Trent Green ended
23-of-41 for 185 yards for the Chiefs (7-7), who
have dropped three straight but still remain in
the thick of the AFC playoff race. Larry Johnson
ended with just 84 yards rushing for Kansas City,
which was playing its first game since owner Lamar
Hunt passed away earlier this week.
