The Twins are 2 ½ games out of the wild card
race and seem to have turned things around. Ace,
Johan Santana is 6-1 with a 1.65 era since the All
Star game and coming off a 3 hit shutout of the
first place White Sox.! The Rangers are out of it
but star players Alfonso Soriano (30HR, 84RBI, .280)
and Mark Teixeira (32HR, 99RBI, .281) are both blasting
the ball. The pitching has imploded though since
Kenny (The angry gambler) Rogers (0-3 since his
suspension.) exploded and shoved a cameraman to
the ground.
SUNDAY:
MARLINS (66-59) @ CUBS (61-65)
2:20 PM WGN
The ‘D-Train’, Dontrelle Willis (17-8,
2.67) won his league leading 17 th game last week
and we may have a chance to see him go for number
18 on Saturday! The ‘Fighting fish’
are in the midst of a heated battle with 4 teams
in their division all within 3 ½ games of
the NL wild card. Will the real Chicago Cubs please
stand up? After winning three out of four against
the NL leading Cardinals they went and dropped two
out of three to the lowly Rockies last ‘weekender’!
PHILLIES (68-59) @ D’BACKS

The first place Phillies (Sounds odd right?) will
be in a dog fight the rest of the way through the
season as it’s anyone’s division at
this point. The last place Nationals are only 5
½ behind the Phillies to put it in perspective.
The lowly D’backs are the beneficiaries of
playing in the worst division in baseball, the NL
West. Even with a .457 winning percentage they are
still only five games behind San Diego. Game on!

Every time these two teams square off it seems like
it’s a barn burner. The high octane trio of
Peyton Manning (4,557, 49tds), Edgerin James (1,548,

and it should be fun to see 1) that emerges at quarterback
Joey Harrington or Jeff Garcia? 2) Which wide receivers
will step up. Roy Williams? Mike Williams? Charles
Rogers? 3) Can running back Kevin Jones (1,133,
5tds) avoid the sophomore slump?
