NFL 2006 Week 8 Top 12 NFL Teams
The craziness in the NFL
continues, as the last winless team won, the league’s
worst defense (Texans) shuts down a supposed AFC
contender and QB injuries stole headlines by Sunday
night.
All in all, it was
just another wacky week for bettors. Let’s
show you who the top 12 money line teams are going
forward. An unprecedented three previously unranked
teams made the rankings this week. We have several
playing each other this week so the rankings should
look drastically different next time.
Rank / Team Reason
1.
- Bears - The bye week did Chicago some
good after that near loss in Arizona. However,
losing safety Mike Brown could be devastating.
The 49ers defense should be a cure for what ails
Rex Grossman.
2
- Colts - Ho, hum… another stellar
day for the offense and a another “bend
but don’t break” day by the defense.
This week is the test in Denver. Can the running
game grind one out on the road?
3
- Patriots - We told you they would be
climbing once again. Clearly, this is not the
same team that started off the season slowly.
4
- Broncos -
It’s hard to reward a sluggish offense,
but their defense really is that good. Denver
gets to make a statement this week versus the
Colts.
5
- Saints -
We promoted a bye team, but this is addition by
subtraction. The Saints face a tough challenge
this week against Baltimore’s D. My money
is on that Super Dome magic.
6
- Giants - Eli and Co. impressed in primetime
and now we have to take them seriously as NFC
contenders. Will they send out Tiki on top?
7
- Chargers -
We yo-yo'ed SD right back to no. 7, where they
were two weeks ago. The Merriman ordeal has created
a dark cloud over them.
8
- Eagles -
We’re not giving up on a team that has three
losses coming all on the last play of the game.
Philly should win big at home this week.
9
- Bengals
- A nice
win over Carolina, but the Bengals are not making
it look easy. They need to carry over their second
half Week 7 performance against Atlanta this Sunday.
10
- Vikings
- You have
to take them seriously. They don’t allow
a lot of points and now have the second-leading
rusher in the NFL.
11
- Falcons -
Too inconsistent to take them every week. However,
they can wow you at any time. Atlanta has a big
test in Cincy this Sunday.
12
- Ravens -
Let’s see if the bye week was long enough
for the Ravens to fix their offense. I’m
not betting it was.
Honorable Mentions
Seahawks (We know they're
4-2, but with Wallace now behind center, we're
not putting any money on them), Rams (A bye week
doesn’t get you back on the rankings), Panthers
(Jake Delhomme made one too mistakes against the
Bengals and it got them thrown off this list),
Jets (We’re as shocked as you are to see
them here), Chiefs (That Charger win could be
the season turning point), Jaguars (We don’t
know what to think), Cowboys (Good luck Romo).
