CAMP OBJECTIVES:
Mark Brunell had a good year in 2005, but it is just
a matter of time until '05 first-round pick Jason
Campbell gets a legitimate shot to unseat him. A strong
training camp could mean that Campbell sees the regular
season field sooner rather than later, and will undoubtedly
mean that he will beat out veteran Todd Collins (Chiefs)
for the No. 2 job. Whoever new offensive coordinator
Al Saunders selects at quarterback will have a couple
of new targets in free agent pickups Antwaan Randle
El (Steelers) and Brandon Lloyd (49ers), and their
presence should take some pressure off of Santana
Moss and trusty tight end Chris Cooley. On defense,
coordinator Gregg Williams needs to find a consistent
pass rusher, and former 49er and first-round pick
Andre Carter just might be that guy. With LaVar Arrington
now a Giant, the Skins will need Rocky McIntosh (Miami
(FL)) to emerge and begin making an impact early into
training camp.
