    REPORT DATES:
Rookies July 27th, Veterans July 27th SITE: University
at Albany, Albany, NY CAMP OBJECTIVES:
The Giants' linebacking corps was a complete mess
by the end of last season, and Tom Coughlin, who added
free agents LaVar Arrington (Redskins), and Brandon
Short (Panthers) along with rookie Gerris Wilkinson
(Georgia Tech) to the depth chart in the offseason,
will be monitoring the competition there closely.
Coughlin and GM Ernie Accorsi also gave the secondary
a much-needed overhaul, and will need to see more
from free agent pickups like R.W. McQuarters (Lions),
Sam Madison (Dolphins), and Will Demps (Ravens) than
he ever received out of the likes of the departed
Will Peterson, Will Allen, Shaun Williams, and Brent
Alexander. Also on defense, the Giants will need to
determine a way to place first-round draft choice
Mathias Kiwanuka (Boston College) into a defensive
end rotation that already includes Michael Strahan
and Osi Umenyiora. Offensively, the G-Men need to
determine whether Rob Johnson (yes, that Rob Johnson)
or Tim Hasselbeck is going to back up Eli Manning,
and must develop Sinorice Moss as a capable receiving
threat to complement the likes of Plaxico Burress,
Jeremy Shockey, and the declining Amani Toomer.
