5) Dallas (+5.5) at Carolina
Dallas (3-3) is coming off
a devastating Monday night home loss to the New
York Giants. Now, they start a tough part of their
schedule that has consecutive road games at Carolina,
Washington and Arizona. The big question is whether
Drew Bledsoe or Tony Romo will be starting at
quarterback.
Carolina is 4-3 after a 17-14
loss at Cincinnati. It was a game that the Panthers
could have won with a key play here or there.
The win also ended their four game winning streak.
This is the last game for Carolina before their
bye-week. Week 8 NFL
Point Spread Carolina -5.5
4) Atlanta (+4.5) at Cincinnati
This is a battle of two 4-2
teams who each got a much needed win last week.
Atlanta beat Pittsburgh at home behind a monster
effort from quarterback, Michael Vick. Cincinnati
quarterback, Carson Palmer also had a fine effort
last week against Carolina, and the Bengals escaped
with a three point win.
The interesting match-up
this week is the running game of Atlanta versus
the run defense of Cincinnati. Normally, that
would be a mismatch in favor of Atlanta, but Cincinnati
did a good job limiting running back, DeShaun
Foster last week. Week
8 NFL Point Spread Cincinnati -4.5
3) Baltimore (+2) at New Orleans
Baltimore is 4-2 on the year,
but that is disappointing given the fact that
they were 4-0 to start the season. The Ravens
last two games were a road loss at Denver and
a home loss to Carolina, and this game is not
much easier. Quarterback, Steve McNair suffered
a concussion and neck sprain last game, but he
should be ready to play.
New Orleans is 5-1 and coming
off the bye-week. They are the surprise team in
the NFL up to this point, and their coach, Sean
Payton, would likely be coach of the year if the
voting was held today. The Saints have won their
last two games at home over Tampa Bay and Philadelphia,
each by three points. Week
8 NFL Point Spread New Orleans -2
2) New England (-2.5) at Minnesota
New England is 5-1 after
taking care of business last week at Buffalo.
The Patriots still do not have their passing game
in high gear, but their running attack and defense
are good enough to win most weeks. We will see
if this is the case when they play a tough opponent
on the road on Monday Night Football.
Minnesota is 4-2 after a
big 31-13 road win over Seattle. The Seahawks
were without running back Shaun Alexander, and
quarterback Matt Hasselbeck got hurt early in
the second half with the game tied. The Pats and
Vikings have not met since the 2002 season. Week
8 NFL Point Spread Minnesota +2.5
1) Indianapolis (+2.5) at Denver
This game is so good, that
it is surprising that the Monday or Sunday night
networks didn’t grab it before the season.
This was also supposed to be the match-up in the
AFC championship game last year, but the Colts
didn’t do their part, losing to Pittsburgh
at home in the playoffs. Denver, of course, lost
to the Steelers as well in the AFC championship
game.
This is a classic match-up
of a great offensive team in Indy versus a great
defensive team in Denver. The Colts are on a six
game winning streak at 6-0, while Denver has a
five game winning streak at 5-1. The last time
these two teams met was in the 2004 playoffs when
the Colts destroyed the Broncos, 49-24.
Week 8 NFL Point Spread
Denver -2.5
