 5) NY Jets (+7) at Jacksonville
Odds If you said before the start
of the season that the Jets would be involved
in a Top 5 game, you would have been laughed up.
Instead, the Jets are 2-2 and both losses came
in tough home games against New England and Indianapolis.
New York has played very well on the road this
year with wins over Tennessee and Buffalo. Jacksonville is 2-2
and in the middle of a two game losing streak.
The two road loses to Indianapolis and Washington
were both games that they should have won, and
this is a team that, historically, has struggled
away from home. The Jaguars really need a win
                                here before their bye-week. NFL
Week 5 NFL Point Spread Jaguars (-7) 4) Washington (+4) at NY Giants
Odds Washington (2-2) got a huge
overtime win over Jacksonville on Sunday, 36-30.
A loss would not only have dropped them to 1-3,
but they would have been 0-2 at home. Losing home
games is not a formula to make the playoffs. Quarterback,
Mark Brunell has looked very good the last two
games, but this is a tough test on the road. The Giants (1-2) had
a week off to lick their wounds from a 42-30 loss
at Seattle. That game was 42-3 at one point, so
their 27-0 margin in the 4th quarter was absolutely
meaningless. The Giants are desperate for a win
in this game as they play at Atlanta and Dallas
the next two weeks, two very tough games.
                                Week 5 NFL Point
Spread Giants (-4) 3) Baltimore (+3.5) at Denver
odds Baltimore is 4-0, but has
been living dangerously the last two weeks, winning
by a combined four points in two games, Quarterback,
Steve McNair has made the difference in this team,
leading them in to comeback wins which would not
have happened under Kyle Boller. Denver is 2-1 on the year
and coming off a bye week. Their last game was
a 17-7 drubbing at New England that was more dominant
than the score suggests. Denver has only played
one home game this year, a 9-6 win over Kansas
City. Last year, they were undefeated at Invesco
Field, but did lose to the Steelers in the AFC
                                Championship game there. Week
5 NFL Point Spread Broncos (-3.5) 2) Pittsburgh (+3.5) at San Diego
odds Pittsburgh is 1-2 on the
year, and may be the best 1-2 team in the history
of the NFL. The defending champs need a win badly,
but they have to have a much better effort from
                                quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger. “Big Ben”
is sporting a quarterback ranking of just 34.3
this year, and he has five interceptions versus
no touchdowns. San Diego is 2-1 after
a 16-13 loss at Baltimore. The Chargers led the
game late, but lost on the final drive. Quarterback
Phillip Rivers keeps playing pretty efficiently,
but this is a team that wants to rely on defense
and their running game to win. San Diego’s
defense is number one in the NFL by a pretty wide
                                margin. Week
5 NFL Point Spread Chargers (-3.5) 1) Dallas (NL) at Philadelphia This is another NFC East
game, and they are all good because they are four
very solid teams. The big story here is, obviously,
the return of Terrell Owens to Philadelphia. Owens
usually rises to the challenge, but he will be
playing in front of a fired-up home crowd of epic
proportions. Dallas is 2-1 on the year. The Eagles are coming off
a Monday Night home win over Green Bay that upped
their record to 3-1. Quarterback, Donovan McNabb
is going to be really stoked going against his
nemesis in Owens, but he can’t let his emotions
get the better of him, or the Cowboys will. Week
