5) Chicago (-3) at Minnesota
Odds
Many people thought that
Chicago might be undefeated at this juncture,
but not Minnesota. Chicago has two wins against
NFC North foes Green Bay and Detroit, winning
by a combined score of 60-7. A lot of people expected
that kind of dominance from the Bear’s defense,
but it is the offense that has really surprised
everyone.
Minnesota’s two
wins have come against Washington and Carolina,
two teams that were considered Super Bowl contenders
from the NFC. Turns out that Washington looks
overrated, and Carolina has been hurt by injuries,
but Minnesota can only play who is in front of
them. This game will be a much truer test for
the Vikings. Week
3 NFL Point Spread Bears (-3)
4) NY Giants (+3.5) at Seattle
Odds
The Giants continue their
brutal opening schedule after a home loss to Indy
and a road win at Philly. If not for their remarkable
comeback win against the Eagles, this team would
be looking to avoid falling to 0-3, and perhaps
out of the playoff chase. Now, they still need
a win, but it is not desperation mode.
For Seattle (2-0),
this game marks the debut of receiver, Deion Branch.
The Seahawks need a boost on that side of the
ball as the defense is playing well ahead of the
offense. It will be interesting to see how Branch’s
playing time affects the other receivers, and
how Seattle responds to tougher competition after
beating Detroit and Arizona. Week
3 NFL Point Spread Giants (+3.5)
3) Denver (+6.5) at New England
Odds
This Sunday night game is
an interesting one on a number of levels. The
first is that New England will be looking for
revenge after two road losses to Denver last year.
That includes a 27-13 playoff defeat, where New
England uncharacteristically killed themselves
with five turnovers.
Denver has struggled
mightily so far this season, and is lucky to be
1-1. Their 9-6 win over Kansas City on Sunday
means that they have only scored 19 points in
two games, and just one touchdown. New England
is 2-0 after close wins over the Bills and Jets,
and they are still trying to get their passing
game in sync after losing Deion Branch.
Week 3 NFL Point
Spread Broncos (+6.5)
2) Jacksonville (NL) at Indianapolis
Odds
Jacksonville is 2-0 after
a 9-0 win over Pittsburgh on Monday Night Football.
The Colts represent the third tough game in a
row for the Jaguars, who beat Dallas in Week One.
This is their first road game though. In last
year’s game in Indianapolis, the Jaguars
were able to hold the Colts to just 10 points,
but still lost 10-3.
Indianapolis is 2-0 after
wins over the Giants and Texans. The Colts’
passing game is clicking on all cylinders right
now as evidenced by Peyton Manning’s 400
throwing yards against Houston. Rookie, Jospeh
Addai gave enough in the running game against
the Texans to keep the offense balanced, and that
will need to continue against a Jaguars’
defense that is very familiar with the Colts’
schemes. Week 3

1) Cincinnati (NL) at Pittsburgh
Odds
Cincinnati quarterback, Carson
Palmer has had this game marked on his calendar
for 8.5 months. That was when Palmer tore his
ACL in a playoff loss to Pittsburgh, a game where
they might have won if it wasn’t for the
injury. Now, Palmer returns to face his arch-nemesis,
and he wants a win in the worst way.
The Bengals are 2-0
after wins over Kansas City and Cleveland. Palmer
has looked great and shown no signs of the injury.
Pittsburgh is 1-1 after Ben Roethlisberger’s
unsuccessful return from injury against Jacksonville.
These are two great teams with high profile quarterbacks,
and that makes it a must watch. Week
