Early Odds - November 14, 2006 by: VIP.com 5) Chicago (-7) at NY Jets Chicago (8-1) is playing
back-to-back road games after their win at the
Giants. The Bears are the first team since the
1999 Washington Redskins to play consecutive games
at the Meadowlands. The Redskins won both of those,
setting good precedent for this Sunday. Jets (5-4) coach Eric Mangini
is coming off the greatest win of his head coaching
career, a 17-14 triumph at New England. Of course,
Mangini’s only experience as a head coach
before this year was in Australia, coaching Australian
Rules football. Look for this to be a low scoring
game with an Over/ Under of just 38.5. Week
11 NFL Point Spread Bears -7 4) Atlanta (+4) at Baltimore This is another interesting
match-up between the AFC North and NFC South,
both solid divisions. Atlanta (5-4) is coming
off a very disappointing 17-13 home loss to Cleveland.
One Falcons’ player who is struggling is
running back Warrick Dunn. Dunn has only broken
the 73 yard rushing mark once in the last seven
games. Baltimore is 7-2 after a
sterling 27-26 comeback win at Tennessee. The
Ravens were trailing 26-7 before going on a 20-0
run. This game is a great speed match-up of Atlanta
quarterback Michael Vick versus the Ravens’
defense. Expect Ray Lewis to return this week
                                from his back injury. Week
11 NFL Point Spread Falcons +4 3) NY Giants (+3.5) at Jacksonville The Giants (6-3) needed to
make a statement in their home game against Chicago
on Sunday Night. After a 38-20 loss, the statement
was “we aren’t as good as we thought”.
Now, the Giants must travel to one of the toughest
road venues in the NFL. They are also really banged
up, mostly on defense. Jacksonville (5-4)
woke up Monday morning wondering how they lost
to lowly Houston twice in the last four weeks.
The latest being 13-10 at home. Quarterback, David
Garrard’s four interceptions is a good explanation,
but the Jaguars were a team that had crushed their
last two home opponents by a combined score of
                                88-7. Week
11 NFL Point Spread Giants +3.5 2) Indianapolis (-1) at Dallas The Colts are 9-0 for the
second time in two years, a new record. That means
the 16-0 talk starts in earnest once again. Remember,
the Colts went 13-0 last year before losing to
San Diego. When you look at Indianapolis’
remaining schedule, only the December 10th game
at Jacksonville looks tougher than this one. Dallas
is 5-4 after beating up on the NFL’s doormat,
Arizona. Receiver, Terry Glenn was not able to
play due to an injured knee, but quarterback Tony
Romo still threw for over 300 yards. Romo has
had three solid starts out of three, but the pressure
will build every week, starting with this high
                                profile game.
Week 11 NFL Point Spread Indy -1 1) San Diego (+2.5) at Denver Two 7-2 teams square off
in Mile High with more at stake than just one
game in the standings. These are arguably two
of the top three teams in the AFC conference,
but one will be a Wild Card in the playoffs as
they both come from the AFC West division. The
good news for the loser of this game is that the
teams meet again in three weeks. After beating Cincinnati
49-41 on Sunday, the Chargers are leading the
NFL in points scored at 33 per game. Denver is
ranked 23rd at 17.6 points per game. On defense,
Denver actually gives up more yards per game than
San Diego, but they give up a touchdown less in
points (12.3 points per game versus 19.4)
