One
player who is out this week is Seattle’s
Shaun Alexander.
The All-Pro running back has a broken foot and
is out for at least this week. Maurice Morris
will take over for him, but it is a considerable
drop-off. Seattle was a three point dog at Chicago
on Sunday night, but that line has moved to 3.5.
Chicago on the other hand
is dealing with injuries of their own. Tight end,
Desmond Clark
sprained his foot and his status is questionable.
Clark has been a big part of the offense for the
Bears and quarterback Rex Grossman.
San Francisco running back,
Frank Gore
suffered an abdominal strain last Sunday, and
he is questionable on the official injury report.
More certain is that tight end, Vernon
Davis is out for around four weeks with
a leg injury.
The Gore loss would hurt
more than Davis as the 49ers need a running threat
to make defenses respect the play-action-pass.
San Francisco is a seven point underdog at 0-2
Kansas City.
Arizona quarterback, Kurt
Warner reportedly had a hurt hand, which
was one of the reasons for the proposed switch
to rookie Matt Leinart. The switch will not be
made this week, and suddenly Warner’s hand
is not an issue anymore. The Cardinals are seven
point underdogs at Atlanta.
The Falcons have two key
players on the mend, John
Abraham (groin) and Ed
Hartwell (knee), who are both questionable
to play. The good news is that receiver, Roddy
White will return to the starting line-up this
Sunday.
The Colts have a lot of injury
and personal concerns heading into their game
at the Jets. Defensive tackle, Corey
Simon is very doubtful after having arthroscopic
knee surgery. Wide receiver, Reggie
Wayne also might miss the game due to the
death of his brother.
Receiver, Brandon
Stokley is already questionable with an
ankle injury. Kicker, Adam
Vinatieri is also questionable with a groin
problem, and he could miss his second game in
a row. The Colts are still favored by nine points
over New York.
The Patriots have two important
questionable players in cornerback Ellis
Hobbs, and safety Eugene Wilson. Both are
badly needed for this week’s game at Cincinnati.
New England is getting six points.
Finally, Baltimore
defensive end Terrell
Suggs (thigh),
and tight end Todd
Heap (ankle),
are both questionable. The Ravens are getting
2.5 points at home against San Diego.
