nfl week 3 schedules & lines
Washington Redskins
Results: Lost to Minnesota
and Dallas.
Week 3 Schedule : Washington (-4) at Houston
The Redskins have extended
their poor preseason into the regular season,
with back-to-back losses in marquee contests.
Clinton Portis’ return to the field would
help their chances, but weak opposition in Week
3 should result in the team’s first win
regardless.
Houston Texans
Results: Lost to Philadelphia
and Indianapolis.
Week 3 Schedule: Washington (-4) at Houston
Actually put up 24 points
against the Colts last week – too bad their
defense allowed 43. Things are going to get ugly
in Houston if this team fails to show any improvement
this season. On the bright side, though, they’ll
be able to screw up another high draft pick.
Miami Dolphins
Results: Lost to Pittsburgh
and Buffalo.
Week 3 Schedule: Tennessee (+11) at Miami
Losing to the Steelers in
Week 1 was understandable, but they were easily
handled by J.P. Losman and the Bills last week.
Need to average more than 12 points per game to
win; luckily for them, the Titans have been allowing
an average of 32 points per game.
Tennessee Titans
Results: Lost to the NY Jets
and San Diego.
Week 3 Schedule: Tennessee (+11) at Miami
How long until Vince Young
is named the starting quarterback? This week?
Next week? Unless Tennessee gets feisty and upsets
Miami on Sunday, it’s time to end the Kerry
Collins experiment. And with Billy Volek traded,
that means giving the reins to Young.
Detroit Lions
Results: Lost to Seattle
and Chicago.
Week 3 Schedule: Green Bay (+6.5) at Detroit
Well, someone has to win
this game between NFC North doormats. The schedule-maker
hasn’t been kind to the Lions, with tough
games against Seattle and Chicago to start the
year. Also not kind to the Lions? Whoever is responsible
for their QB situation.
Green Bay Packers
Results: Lost to Chicago
and New Orleans.
Week 3 Schedule: Green Bay (+6.5) at Detroit
Well, someone has to win
this game between NFC North doormats. Green Bay
has also fallen victim to Chicago once this season,
and they got knocked around by New Orleans last
week. But Brett Favre is still an upgrade on Jon
Kitna, right? Right? Anyone there?
Carolina Panthers
Results: Lost to Atlanta
and Minnesota.
Week 3 Schedule: Carolina (-3) at Tampa Bay
Thumped 20-6 by Atlanta in
Week 1, then lost by a field goal to the Vikings
last week. And this team has been picked by many
to get to the Super Bowl this season. The year
isn’t a disaster yet for the Panthers, but
an 0-3 start to 2006 will put them on that road.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Results: Lost to Baltimore
and Atlanta.
Week 3 Schedule: Carolina (-3) at Tampa Bay
After getting blanked by
the Ravens in Week 1, the Buccaneers responded
by scoring three points in a loss to Atlanta last
week. At that pace they’ll score a TD in
early October. Still, do they really look like
an 0-3 team? Of course, Carolina doesn’t
either.
Cleveland Browns
Results: Lost to New Orleans
and Cincinnati.
Week 3 Schedule: Baltimore (-6.5) at Cleveland
Pounded by the division rival
Bengals last week after losing their opener to
the Saints. Maybe they should have petitioned
the league to move to another division.
As it stands, they play the
Steelers, Bengals, and Ravens all twice in ‘06,
which could be six losses.
Kansas City Chiefs
Results: Lost to Cincinnati
and Denver.
Week 3 Schedule: Bye Week
You can’t win if you
don’t play, but the Chiefs are happy for
the bye with Trent Green on the shelf. As well,
they get to play the 49ers when they return to
the field in two weeks.
Oakland Raiders
Results: Lost to San Diego
and Baltimore.
Week 3 Schedule: Bye Week
You can’t win if you
don’t play, although the Raiders are so
bad they might be able to lose even when they’re
not playing. Is Art Shell actually getting paid
for this go-round?
