PLAYERS TO START - WEEK 3 CHEATSHEETS Drew
Brees, QB, New Orleans
Brees’ Saints are playing
Atlanta at home on Monday Night Football. The
Falcons’ run defense has been very solid
so far, so expect them to put the clamps on Reggie
Bush and Deuce McAllister early. With Atlanta
putting up points, Brees is going to have to throw
the ball a ton to stay in this game.
Corey Dillon, RB, New
England
The Patriots have adopted
the two-back system, like a lot of teams. Despite
sharing carries with rookie Laurence Maroney though,
Dillon is on pace for a 1,200 yard season. New
England also likes to reward him around the goal-line,
so expect another good fantasy night for Dillon
against the Broncos.
Derrick Mason, WR, Baltimore
Mason is only averaging 48
yards receiving through two games, partially due
to the conservative nature of the Ravens’
offense. This week, Cleveland is missing cornerback
Daylon McCutcheon and possibly Gary Baxter. Expect
quarterback Steve McNair to have more attempts
and Mason will be one of the beneficiaries.
Vernon Davis, TE, San
Francisco
The rookie has not exactly
lit it up yet, but this could be the week against
Philadelphia. The Eagles have major injury problems
at cornerback, so expect the Philadelphia safeties
to be more concerned about providing help on the
outside. That will leave Davis free in the middle.
PLAYER TO BENCH - WEEK 3 CHEATSHEETS
Ben Roethlisberger, QB,
Pittsburgh
“Big Ben” struggled
against the Jaguars on Monday Night Football.
A lot of people think that means he will have
a bounce-back game against Cincinnati. Well, think
again. No one knows the true extent of all his
injuries, and he is having stamina and rust issues
as well. Pittsburgh will play conservative again
on offense, so bench Ben.
Tatum Bell, RB, Denver
Bell has averaged 15.5 carries
per week this year, and is at 5.5 yards per carry.
Contrast that with teammate Mike Bell who is averaging
11.5 carries, and 4.4 yards The Patriots are doing
a good job stopping the run this year, and they
are likely to keep safety Rodney Harrison in the
box, and force quarterback Jake Plummer to beat
them.
Deion Branch, WR, Seattle
Branch is making his first
appearance since being acquired from New England.
Branch is now known as the $39 million man, but
that doesn’t mean he is a good fantasy play
against the Giants. Branch has had very little
time to learn the offense, and the Seahawks have
a number of receivers to share the wealth. Bench
Branch!
Jermaine Wiggins, TE,
Minnesota
Wiggins struggled during
the last five games of 2005, and that has continued
so far this year. Quarterback, Brad Johnson doesn’t
look the way of his tight end a lot, and the numbers
prove it, Couple that with the tough Chicago defense
this week, and this is a no-brainer.
