“Big
Ben” burst his appendix, and apparently
it has something to do with the motorcycle accident
that he recently suffered.
While this game will be very
hard to win with Charlie Batch at quarterback,
Coach Bill Cowher is not likely to rush his star
player back. Pittsburgh is currently a 1.5 point
favorite even with the uncertainty.
Unlike Roethlisberger, Kansas
City quarterback, Trent Green is definitely out
for this game with a head injury. Green has started
every game for this team since 2001, an incredible
streak.
His replacement, Damon Huard,
is a 10 year veteran out of Washington who has
barely thrown an NFL pass in the last five years.
The Chiefs are 10.5 point underdogs at Denver
this week.
Carolina is another team
that is battling the injury bug in a big way.
Offensive tackle, Travelle Wharton is lost for
the year with a knee injury. That means the entire
line has to be shuffled around for the Minnesota
game.
Receiver, Steve Smith did
not play last week against Atlanta with a hamstring
injury, and he is questionable for this Sunday.
Linebacker, Dan Morgan is definitely out this
week with a concussion. Carolina is a 1.5 point
road favorite at the Vikings despite the adversity.
Buffalo has two high-profile
defensive players making injury headlines. Veteran
safety, Troy Vincent was placed on injured reserve
with a hamstring injury, and is out for the year.
Rookie, Ko Simpson will likely move into the starting
line-up.
Linebacker, Takeo Spikes
also has an injured hamstring and he is questionable
after not practicing yesterday. The Bills are
a 6.5 point underdog at Miami.
Atlanta is another squad
with injury questions on defense. Defensive end
John Abraham (groin) is questionable, and defensive
end Patrick Kerney (triceps) is probable to play
Sunday against Tampa Bay.
Middle linebacker, Ed Hartwell
is probable to return this week after being out
with a knee injury. The Falcons are currently
5.5 point favorites over the Buccaneers.
Finally, Redskins’
cornerback, Shawn Springs is doubtful for the
Sunday night game against Dallas. Running back,
Clinton Portis is listed as questionable, but
if he played last week against Minnesota, you
know he is going to suit up for this one. Washington
is currently a 6 point underdog to Dallas.
