Bull Market
Chad Pennington, QB,
NY Jets
Pennington threw for 319
yards and two touchdowns in a win against Tennessee.
The most encouraging sign was improved arm strength,
which has hurt him in the past along with injuries.
The Jets have some talent at the receiver position,
so there is a chance that Pennington can continue
to have success throughout the season.
Laurence Maroney, RB,
New England
Maroney was electrifying
in his rookie debut against the Bills. He had
86 rushing yards on only 17 carries, and looked
like he could break it all the way on almost every
play. Running back, Corey Dillon also looked good
for New England, but Maroney will remain a big
part of the offense even with Dillon healthy.
Kellen Winslow, TE, Cleveland
Wide receiver, Joe
Jurevicius is expected to miss four to six weeks
with broken ribs. While quarterback, Charlie Frye
did not exactly look impressive in their loss
to New Orleans, he has to throw to someone and
Winslow is a good candidate. Winslow had 63 yards
receiving and one touchdown in his first NFL game
in two years.
Bear Market
Brett Favre, QB, Green
Bay
Favre threw 29 interceptions
last year, but still chucked it up enough that
he had almost 3,900 passing yards. That made him
attractive to fantasy owners this year. Against
the Bears on Sunday, Favre had two more picks,
but only threw for 170 yards. With an offensive
line that may be the worst in the entire NFL,
Favre is a risky proposition.
Dominic Rhodes, RB, Indianapolis
Rhodes had just 29 yards
rushing on 16 attempts in Indy’s win over
the NY Giants. The Giants do have a good run defense,
but it is doubtful that Edgerrin James would have
performed so poorly. Rookie, Joseph Addai fared
better than Rhodes with 26 yards on seven carries,
and he will be featured more if Rhodes continues
to struggle.
Eddie Kennison, WR, Kansas
City
Kennison has broken
the 1,000 yard receiving mark in each of the last
two seasons, and he was expected to do so again
this year. With quarterback Trent Green now hurt
with a head injury and replaced by Damon Huard,
Kennison could see his production go down dramatically.
