PLAYERS TO START - WEEK 1 CHEATSHEETS
Kurt Warner, QB, Arizona
Warner is flying under the
radar a little bit as the buzz around rookie Matt
Leinart gets stronger and stronger. Warner’s
fantasy ranking is also downgraded overall because
he is likely to get hurt at some point soon. This
is his team for now though, and there is no better
defensive team to go against than San Francisco.
Reuben Droughns, RB,
Cleveland
Droughns is sure to get plenty
of carries this week against the New Orleans Saints
for a couple of reasons. One is that the Saints’
run defense is very questionable. Two is that
the Browns want to avoid throwing a lot with an
inexperienced quarterback and a banged up set
of wide receivers.
Keyshawn Johnson, WR,
Carolina
Fellow Carolina receiver,
Steve Smith has hurt his hamstring and his status
for Sunday is up in the air. If Smith is out,
then Johnson automatically becomes the go-to receiver.
Even if Smith does play, Johnson will get a number
of touches against the Falcons’ pass defense.
L.J. Smith, TE, Philadelphia
Philadelphia has promised
to run the ball more this year, and running back,
Brian Westbrook should also have a big day against
Houston. Quarterback Donovan McNabb got an upgrade
in his wide receivers with the acquisition of
Donte’ Stallworth, but he will still looks
toward his tight end Smith, one of his favorite
targets.
PLAYERS TO BENCH
- WEEK 1 CHEATSHEETS
Chris Simms, QB, Tampa
Bay
This is going to be an intense
defensive battle with a score somewhere in the
17-14 range. Both Tampa Bay and Baltimore have
very good defenses, and the Buccaneers will try
to pound out a win with running back Cadillac
Williams. Simms may get a close victory, but he
will not put up big passing numbers.
Julius Jones, RB, Dallas
Jones is going to find running
inside pretty tough this week against the Jacksonville
pair of defensive tackles, John Henderson and
Marcus Stroud. Jaguars’ linebacker, Mike
Peterson is banged up, but their linebackers are
still fast enough to limit Jones outside. Coach
Bill Parcells may also turn to running back, Marion
Barber if Jones struggles.
Any Falcons Wide Receiver
Atlanta has three legitimate
wide receivers in Roddy White, Michael Jenkins
and Ashley Lelie. Not to mention the fact that
they also have a very good tight end in Alge Crumpler.
Until quarterback, Michael Vick starts passing
the ball with more efficiency, and we find out
who his favorite wide receiver is, then the whole
group is very risky.
Heath Miller, TE, Pittsburgh
Charlie Batch is the Steelers’
quarterback this week against Miami after Ben
Roethlisberger burst his appendix. Miami coach
Nick Saban is one of the best defensive minds
in the game, and he will try to take away the
middle of the field from Batch, and force him
to throw outside to his mediocre receiving unit.
