News From VIP.COM "THE EDGE"    The New Orleans Saints
have signed Reggie Bush to a six year deal and
the fear of a holdout is over. The Bush signing could
not have come at a better time for New Orleans
fans. Bush represents the future of the franchise
and the city, and the city still needs all the
icons it can get in the aftermath of Hurricane
Katrina. One of the most exciting
aspects about Bush from a fantasy perspective
is his versatility. The Saints are going to
make sure that he gets his touches whether it
is running the ball, receiving out of the backfield,
or even lining up as a wide receiver. New Saints’ quarterback,
Drew Brees knows a little something about passing
to a running back out of the backfield. Brees
played with LaDainian Tomlinson in San Diego,
and he is a great receiver, even catching 100
balls in 2003. How many rushes Bush gets
is directly proportional to the health of running
back Deuce McAllister. McAllister is still less
than 100% after his knee injury last October,
but he is working hard with the team at training
                                  camp. Don’t forget that
New Orleans still has another very good running
back in Michael Bennett. However, there is a
good chance that he will be traded once McAllister
proves he is ready to start the season. Bennett
will not be taking away any carries from Bush. The best situation for
the Saints is to have Bush and McAllister share
the carries. Bush is not genetically engineered
to pound the ball up the middle 30 times a game.
Even at USC, the team had LenDale White to get
the tough yards, and Bush ran more to the outside
and worked as a receiver. In fact, in the last two
years, Bush averaged 170 carries versus 200
for White. Right now, Sports Edge
has Bush projected for 650 rushing yards and
400 receiving yards. Those numbers will be updated
as the health of McAllister becomes clearer. Posted by miker at August
