the latest NFL Futures Betting Odds From VIPSports... A look at every projected
starting quarterback in the AFC, and how they
affect their team’s Super Bowl odds. Tier I Quarterbacks Denver (15:1) Indianapolis
                                  (6:1) Pittsburgh (12:1) New England (9:1) Denver’s Jake Plummer
had a very good regular season last year, but
did not look like a championship level quarterback
in the playoffs. If Coach Mike Shanahan felt
totally comfortable with Plummer, he would not
have traded up to draft Jay Cutler in the first
                                  round. Indianapolis’ Peyton
Manning, New England’s Tom Brady, and
                                  Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger are not
only the best three quarterbacks in the AFC,
they are the best three in the NFL. That is
a huge reason why their respective teams are
favored to win the Super Bowl. Tier II Quarterbacks Baltimore (40:1) Cincinnati
                                  (18:1) Jacksonville (30:1) Kansas City (35:1)
Miami (15:1) San Diego (22:1) Baltimore is likely to
land Tennessee’s Steve McNair which will
help their team tremendously, and should lower
their 40:1 odds to around 30:1. Cincinnati and Miami are
                                  both considered AFC championship contenders,
but if Carson Palmer and Daunte Culpepper can
not come back from knee injuries, then their
title chances severely diminish. Jacksonville’s Byron
Leftwich needs to stay healthy for 16 games
for the first time in his four-year career.
If he does, he should take the next step up
in his game. Kansas City’s Trent
Green saw his numbers start to decline last
year although they were still pretty good. Green
is turning 36 years-old though and he may be
heading for a bigger decline. San Diego’s Phillip
Rivers had two years to sit and learn under
Drew Brees. The Chargers have playoff level
talent on both sides of the ball, but it will
be up to the talented Rivers not to let the
team down by struggling at the outset. Tier III Quarterbacks Buffalo (75:1) Cleveland
                                  (75:1) Houston (100:1) Oakland (45:1) NY Jets
                                  (75:1) Tennessee (150:1) Buffalo’s JP Losman
and Oakland’s Aaron Brooks are my two
least favorite signal callers in the conference.
Losman is battling Kelly Holcomb and Craig Nall
for the starting job, and Brooks is a stop-gap
until Andrew Walter is ready Cleveland’s Charlie
Frye will get the starting nod and he is an
interesting prospect. Still, it will take him
at least a year to get his feet wet. Houston’s David Carr
is a former number one pick in the entire draft,
but he hasn’t lived up to his billing.
A poor offensive line and mediocre receivers
haven’t helped. The Jets’ Chad Pennington
is an above average quarterback when healthy.
The problem is that he never stays healthy.
Patrick Ramsey is the Jet’s number two
                                  quarterback. Tennessee’s Billy
Volek should be the starter, and while he is
a decent player, he is not the type of quarterback
that can elevate the team himself. Posted by miker on May
