The first win of the week
was Carolina getting three points from Baltimore,
and winning 23-21. The big news in that game occurred
when Baltimore quarterback, Steve McNair left
the game in the first quarter with a concussion
and sprained neck. He was replaced by Kyle Boller,
and while Boller didn’t play badly, he was
outshined by a 365 yard passing day from Jake
Delhomme. These are two teams currently
going in opposite directions. Carolina has won
four straight games after dropping their first
two. The Ravens have lost two in a row after winning
their first four. Baltimore now has a bye-week,
but they certainly hope that McNair will be ready
to go in Week 8 at New Orleans. The second win of the week
was Dallas giving 13 points to Houston, and winning
34-6. If you just look at the final score, you
do not get an appreciation for how close this
game was early on. It was a 6-3 Houston lead at
halftime, as the Cowboys could not get out of
their own way. The second half was a completely
different story with Dallas outscoring their in-state
rivals, 31-0. Dallas wide receiver, Terrell Owens
had three touchdowns in the second half alone
and the Cowboys also took advantage of three Texan
turnovers. The first loss of the week
was Seattle giving three points at St. Louis,
and winning 30-28. There is not much to say about
this game except it was either going to be a lucky
win, or an unlucky loss. St. Louis dominated the early
part of the game, and went into halftime with
a 21-7 margin. The Seahawks then scored the next
20 points for a 27-21 lead, but St. Louis’
Marc Bulger threw an improbable 67 yard touchdown
pass to Torry Holt with under two minutes left.
                               The Rams looked like they
would win, 28-27. Just when you thought it
                                couldn’t get any crazier, Seattle’s
Josh Brown hit a 54 yard field goal for the win,
but they just missed the cover. The second loss of the week
was Cincinnati giving 5.5 points to Tampa Bay,
and losing 14-13. The Buccaneers played well in
this game even though they were 0-4 heading in. Still, Cincinnati had a 13-7
lead with just under a minute left in the game.
The only way they would not get the cover was
if they lost the game. That was exactly what happened
as rookie quarterback Bruce Gradkowski hit Michael
Clayton for an eight yard touchdown pass with
35 seconds left. Of course, it came on fourth
down to add a little extra insult. Posted by miker at October
