The first win of the week
was Philadelphia giving 2.5 points to Dallas,
and winning 38-24. Let me start off by saying
that this was a great game, and a lot closer than
the score indicates. There were a bunch of turnovers
in the first half and a ton of scoring, with Dallas
having a 21-17 halftime lead. Dallas quarterback, Drew
Bledsoe was harassed all day, and threw three
interceptions, the last of which cost Dallas a
chance to tie the game with under a minute left.
Meanwhile, Terrell Owens was held to 45 receiving
yards against his former team. Philadelphia’s
Donovan McNabb was superb with 354 passing yards,
two touchdowns and no interceptions. The second win of the week
was the Giants giving four points to Washington,
and winning 19-3. I liked New York heading into
this game for a few reasons. One was that I am
not a big believer in Redskins’ quarterback
Mark Brunell, even though he played very well
the last two weeks. I also think that Washington
is overrated as a whole. Finally, New York has
been playing well below their talent level, and
they were desperate for a win at 1-2. This game
ended up being one-sided, with the Giants having
over twice as much total yardage. If New York
didn’t settle for four field goals, the
final score would have been worse. The first loss of the week
was Pittsburgh getting 3.5 points at San Diego,
and losing 23-13. This was a good defensive
battle in the first half with Pittsburgh jumping
out to a 13-7 lead. In the second half, San Diego
scored 16 unanswered points with quarterback Philip
Rivers picking apart the Steelers’ pass
                                defense. Quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger threw
two more interceptions which gives him seven on
the season. He has also not thrown a touchdown
all year, a very disappointing start for “Big
Ben”. The final pick is tonight’s
Ravens and Broncos game. When this column made
the pick last Wednesday, the spread was Denver
minus 3.5. Now, it is up to 5.5 points. Baltimore has been having
problems scoring touchdowns lately, and they will
not be able to get away with that in Denver. The
Broncos still have one of the best home field
advantages in the NFL, and I don’t see that
changing tonight. Posted by miker at October
