                               Coming into the game, the
Bears’ Rex Grossman was the quarterback
most on the hot seat. Grossman had a couple of
bad recent outings in games against Arizona and
Miami, but he outplayed Eli Manning last night.
Grossman had 246 yards passing and two touchdowns.
Manning had 121 yards passing and two interceptions. The win was a huge one for
the Bears. At 8-1, Chicago has a two game lead
over their nearest competition in the NFC, the
Saints, Giants, and Seahawks. Plus, they have
already beaten Seattle and New York head-to-head,
which is a playoff tie-breaker. That means the Bears will
very likely get home field advantage throughout
the NFC playoffs as long as they don’t collapse.
                               The Indianapolis Colts (9-0)
remained undefeated with a 17-16 home win over
Buffalo (3-6). It wasn’t the effort expected
from a 12 point favorite, but you have to assume
there was a letdown after last week’s big
win over New England. The win makes the Colts
the first ever team to start consecutive years
at 9-0. While the Bills almost got
the job done, there were some big underdogs that
won outright yesterday. The NY Jets (5-4) were
getting 10.5 points at New England, and won 17-14.
New York now moves one game behind New England
in the AFC East. The game ended the Patriots (6-3)
streak of 57 games without consecutive losses. In Jacksonville, the Jaguars
(5-4) were laying 10 points to Houston (3-6),
and lost 13-10. Jaguars’ quarterback, David
Garrard threw four interceptions in the loss,
although at least two of them were not his fault.
Don’t look for this game to revive the quarterback
controversy with Byron Leftwich. In Atlanta, Cleveland (3-6)
beat Atlanta (5-4), 17-13 as a nine point dog.
Michael Vick had two interceptions and a fumble
for his second sub-par game in as many weeks.
Cleveland has played three good games in a row
since the firing of offensive coordinator Maurice
Carthon. Finally, we have to mention
the San Diego (7-2) and Cincinnati (4-5) game,
which the Chargers won 49-41. San Diego is proving
they can win shootouts and defensive battles alike.
That makes them a very dangerous team in the post-season.
The Bengals’ Chad Johnson had 260 yards
receiving in the loss, numbers which put fantasy
football players in a frenzy. Overall, it was a big
week for the underdogs at 11-4 heading into tonight’s
game. Posted by miker at November
