team is going to pay that high a pick, and still
give Branch the exorbitant contract that he is looking
for. The best ending for both sides is for Branch
to return to the team, sign a long term deal that
is a little more reasonable, and go to work on winning
                              another Super Bowl. In
Philadelphia, the Eagles traded for New Orleans’
wide receiver, Donte Stallworth. He had his best
season as a pro last year with 70 catches for
945 yards, and will benefit from playing with
                                Donovan McNabb. Stallworth becomes Philadelphia’s
number one or number two receiver, depending on
how high you are on Reggie Brown. There were rumors in Houston
that running back, Domanick Davis may be cut because
of his bad knee. Those rumors are false, but it
is not known when he will be able to get onto
the field. There is a chance that Houston is going
to put him on the injured reserve, which will
cause him to miss the rest of the year. In the interim, Wali Lundy
will be the starter with Vernand Morency the backup.
Lundy was a 6th round pick this year, while Morency
was a third round pick last year, but Coach Gary
Kubiak likes what he has seen from Lundy. Finally in Denver, the running
back situation is still very muddled. Rookie,
Mike Bell was put on top of the depth chart in
a surprising move by Coach Mike Shanahan. The
competition is still open though, and Mike Bell,
Tatum Bell, Ron Dayne and Cedric Cobbs will all
see action in tonight’s pre-season game
against Arizona. The load will likely
be split between Mike Bell and Tatum Bell in the
regular season, with Dayne perhaps gone in a trade.
