From VIPSports... The Preakness Stakes is
coming this Sunday, and Barbaro (-115) is trying
to successfully follow up his Kentucky Derby
                                  win. Click
here for latest Horse Racing odds Barbaro is also +180 to win
the highly coveted Triple Crown. With these events in mind,
we thought it would be useful to see what some
of the horse racing experts around the country
are saying about Barbaro and his Triple Crown
                                  hopes. Mike Brunker, MSNBC Horse
                                  Editor “Trainer Michael
Matz’s plan to lightly campaign the colt
to ensure he has a fresh horse for the next
two races now looks prescient. He has a very
fresh horse heading into the Preakness. The bottom line is that
as great a start as Barbaro made in his Triple
Crown bid on Saturday, there’s still a
long way to go. Or, to be more precise, 2-11/16
miles to go — the combined distance of
the Preakness and Belmont. But with what he
put on display in Louisville, you've got to
like his chances.” Steve Haskin, Blood Horse
                                  Magazine “Barbaro still has
to get past the Preakness. However, a Belmont
victory by Barbaro appears to be the consensus
opinion already, and there isn't a single reason
not to think that way. Barbaro has the pedigree
to go a mile and a half. He has tactical speed,
which is normally needed at Belmont Park. He
can rate kindly behind any type of pace, something
the last three Derby-Preakness winners were
unable to do. And perhaps most important, he
has the perfect stride to handle Belmont's big,
sweeping turns going a mile and a half.” James Scully, Brisnet.com "Michael Matz (trainer
for Barbaro) handled the winner just right.
Barbaro didn't peak too soon or too late. The
best horse often doesn't win the Kentucky Derby,
but he did this year. Noted for his excellence
with turf horses, Matz raced Barbaro exclusively
on grass at first and trained him like a turf
horse this season, giving the powerful colt
plenty of time between starts, with only race
in the 13 weeks preceding the Kentucky Derby.
His strategy worked perfectly, and Matz should
have plenty of horse for the remaining legs
in the series. It's about time we had a Triple
Crown winner."     Paul Moran, New York Post "The offshore bookmakers
are offering 7-4 on Barbaro's successful sweep
of the Triple Crown. At this point, that price
is tempting, certainly more generous than the
Preakness-Belmont parlay. Though there has been
no winner of the Triple Crown in more than a
quarter century, this one (Barbaro) answered
every question posed by the Derby and there
has been no horse in that time to emerge in
Louisville as well armed as is Barbaro. This time, it's all about
a very, very good horse." Posted by miker on May
